It's hard to say goodbye once you've already fallen in love. I knew where the couch was to go and the table. I even had plans for landscaping the backyard and knew where each of my pictures would hang. The lateral sewage line looked good, and I was in hog house heaven. Because the basement was finished, I decided to pay extra for a radon test. The test came back high. That's when I knew I had to walk. I could have mitigated the radon with a tube and fan system. Maybe it would have been fine, but it didn't feel right inside. Now, it's hard to look at the pictures of the house and not feel a bit of pain, but I knew if I would have sealed the deal, I would have been going into a relationship that caused more harm than good in the long run - financially and healthwise. So I am healthy, no lung cancer to speak of, but I am broke and back at square one.

sorry elie :(
That stinks. At least you found out before you moved in and started breathing in the stuff. You'll find something better. This must be fate.
Tough decision, and I know it must be hard to have walked off after putting both emotional and monetary energy into this house. Take a break from hunting for awhile. Give yourself some time. And, when you are ready, think again about how and where to live. Your apartment, Tower Grove Park, the local coffee house and all the amenities down Grand aren't so bad either you know...Love, Pa
I couldn't tell, are there shingles on the roof?
