basements and such

A couple weeks ago I started looking at houses. In the process, I've discovered cute dogs, poorly designed, chopped-up homes, ugly kitchens, OLD stoves, lots of one bedrooms that market themselves as two bedrooms, great houses on bad streets, bad houses on great streets and some questionable basements, like the basement room walled off with wood paneling that contains strange cubbies and a very ornate wooden china cabinet put into the wall tackily. The floor is cement. The windows are barred off. Hmmm ... More interesting was the basement that I am convinced was a bar during prohibition.

Tip 1) There's a bathroom, but no real rooms.
Tip 2) Lots of ornate wooden half-walls that I can envision seperating booths/tables.
Tip 3) Back door entrance into basement area.
Tip 4) Large sink in basement.
Tip 5) A wine cellar area near the rear.

Time to do some real research. Who knew basements could contain such secrets ...

matter of perspective

The basketball set up is really interesting. Because the Edward Jones Dome is a football stadium, about half the stadium is unused when there is a sell-out basketball crowd. In this crowd, two journalists sat and watched the Oregon (Ducks) v. UNLV (Runnin' Rebels) game and came up with whack headlines for the game.

The pregame story: Duck and Run
The Ducks lose headline: Duck, Duck, Lose

And then there were a bunch with "quack" in them. I'll spare you.

piping peppers

My peppers are blooming, growing and smiling. And, by the way, is it piping or pipping?

See previous pepper pictures here and here.

el capitol

Visited the state capitol this weekend and took a guided tour. The best part – I got locked on the balcony in the House Chamber, really! My buds had to chase down the tour guide to let me out. I was dead bolted in. It was sweet. Also, the Benton mural is loaded with Missouri history. Taught me more than my history books in grammar school.

yes, this is for real

Popcorn comes from corn, yes, on the cob. Pretty neat stuff that I picked up while in the Huskerland of Nebraska. I might add that it tastes pretty well with a coat of salt and butter.

lincoln living: part two

Nice chairs - better art. The owner of the home painted them himself. Very nice.

a gray

If an orange turns grayish green after time does it become a gray instead of an orange?
